19th August 2010
Hi Everyone
Just a reminder to let you know that the One World Club has moved from the Mitre Pub in Greenwich to the Station Hotel in Hither Green.
Hither Green is on the main line from Charing Cross, Waterloo East and London Bridge (ten minutes). It is only one stop after Lewisham from where you can also take a 273 bus. When you get to Hither Green Station walk down the exit passage way and turn right not left. When you exit the station the Station Hotel is just a stones throw to your right.
We are relaunching the club this Friday August 20 and have a spectacular line up to celebrate our arrival. The following artists have very kindly agreed to visit us for just one song which I take as a testimony to their loyalty and affection for the club. Many other performers would have liked to be with us on this historic occasion but personal arrangements and holiday plans made it impossible. We hope to see them soon,
This Friday night you will have the chance to see and hear the amazing talents of:
David Salonia, Adam Sigsworth, Victor Elliott, Jonathan Davies, Jason Why,
Jude Onyeskia, Affrix, Sheila Lord, Alex Wyatt, Celia McNicholas,
Rita Tam, Luke Jackson, Simone Alexander, Zander Zon, Andy Gilbert, Mikey Robinson, Natasha Silver, Ivor Game, Kathleen Haskard, Bob Constant,
Colin Rushton, Neil Ellison, Bruce Mackenzie, Max from the Rad Orchestra, Bert Page, Rob Bush, Marc David, Adam Tunji, Kevin Amor, Bola Bamgboye, Anney Boadu, and Mike Klein.
We hope to see as many of you as can make it
Take Care Jon
Change of Venue - from Friday 20th August the One World Club with move to the Station Hotel at Hither Green, very near the station.

Trains run frequently from Charing Cross, Waterloo East and London Bridge stations to Hither Green station, a few minutes wlak from the pub. |
Dear Friends,
I have some important news about the One World Club. Sadly, we are no longer able to meet at the Mitre pub in Greenwich. The new management at the Mitre wanted to charge us for the room, regardless of the money they make from drink sales. Despite lengthy negotiations we were unable to reach an agreement and so we are moving. The One World Club is essentially a free club and will remain so.
The good news is we have a new home at the Station Hotel in Hither Green. This is a great venue with a tradition of live music and the landlord is welcoming and a hundred percent behind us. We will now be meeting on Friday evenings, starting Friday 20 August. The evening will run from 7.30 to 11.00 pm. A similar music venue, the Icarus Club, meet there on Thursday evenings, and we hope to develop a good relationship with them.
Hither Green is not far from Greenwich, well served by public transport and has plenty of free parking in the evenings. The Station Hotel is very close to the train station, on a main line from Charing Cross, Waterloo East and London Bridge. At Hither Green Station go down the exit passage / tunnel and turn right into Staplehurst Road. The pub is a stone's throw from the exit, on the right hand side.
Bus routes 225 (from Canada Water) and 273 (from Lewisham Station) also go to Hither Green Station. Other bus routes via Hither Green Lane, Lee High Road and Blackheath entail a short walk.
This is a big change for us, but it is a good venue and I am sure it will be just as successful. We need your support to make it happen. Please come on Friday 20 August for the launch, and on Fridays thereafter. Free peanuts and sweets as usual! We look forward to seeing you. Best wishes, Jon The Station Hotel, 14 Staplehurst Road Hither Green London SE13 5NB 020 8463 0367

Climb every staircase at the Mitre Pub,
Listen to the music while you eat some grub.

And if you're really good, you will get an encore!

Methinks that the radio did protest too much
For our audience did not blush as such
They did not clear their throats, or look away
But clapped and cheered Andy Forray.
Celia sang and Daryl Answered
As on the djembe he did enhance her!
Last Thursday Andy Forray treated the club to one of his radio banned songs as part of his showcase, and my spies tell me that Celia McNicholas was accompanied by Daryl Answer on Djembe for one of her great songs. I could think that everything had run wild in my absence, but that would be silly!
Others who made the evening were Annie Boadu, Mike Klein,Bola, Chris fethers, Alan Marshall and Daryl, Colin Rushton, Nana Marnie Claire, and Dave Pelling.
And lovely to welcome Capoeira again.
This weeks showcases are Graham Bleasdale and Tony Lording who are going to surprise us with their very own specialities! Not to be missed!
Love
Melinda
